  1. Excellent research Otiose and well beyond time that all (or as many as possible) of Tony Abbott’s plans are seen for what they are worth.

Amazingly, something from the MSM as well.. Particularly gratifying is the headline: Coalition ‘plans pensioner slug’ as it is seldom that the MSM comes out with any sort of strong stance when it’s Tony Abbott.

The Gillard government is to step up its attack on the Coalition over the cost of living, using this week’s rise in the pension to argue that nearly 3.5 million people would lose $1.1 billion a year under Tony Abbott.

The government will use analysis it has done on the impact of the Coalition’s plan to scrap the carbon tax.

If the compensation is removed, single pensioners would lose $350 a year and a couple would lose $530, the government says. Over a fortnight, singles would be $13.50 worse off, while couples would lose $20.40.

  2. Lemons all
Redman – SA, Baillieu – VIC, Mills – NT, Zed – ACT, Turnbull – Fed, all ex leaders hotly followed by the remainder of the liberal front bench. I would not squeeze any of them on my pancakes. And the MSM have the gall to call Labor disfunctional.

  3. I just watched the repeat of Insiders. I thought that Senator Conroy was brilliant.

But on the other side of the coin . . . Piers Ackerman was disgraceful.

  4. bilkonero, I didn’t know Redman had been rolled until recently. I’ve not heard of her replacement, but thank God it isn’t that appalling wanker Lord Downer.

  5. Good research and record-keeping by Otiose. A cluey observer of politics and media.

What a state we’re in as a country, where the mainstream media, along with other vested interests, are pushing for this moron Abbott, seeking to impose him and his vile cronies on us. The Liberals have bludged for the last six years – they are not fit to govern.

  6. Miglo, Piers Ackerman did not get as red faced as Chris Pyne but he was certainly showing that he a few bricks short of load. The best part was when he was going off everyone was laughing at him.

  7. Thought I was posting below here, but posted it there….. and now here 🙄

Crikey, otiose94…… do you realise how long it’s gunna take me to go through every link ….. thanks a lot ….. no, really.. thanks!!! ……. ….. and do you realise that I realise how much time this must have taken you…… bloody time well spent, imo !!!! Well done

  8. The classic on Insiders was the press chasing after a Labor pollie (didn’t catch which one) as he was about to get into his car. He said, Wonderful day the NDIS has been passed..an historic day. The Press, Do you think that there will be a leadership spill! Labor pollie, An historic day for people with disabilities. The Press, What about a leadership challenge! Labor pollie, Historic support for people with disabilities. The Press, But what about the leadership! And on and on it went..

  9. Some interesting media tricks on Insiders…firstly they did their best to try to make a fool out of Conroy prior to the interview by setting up a “background”, these being clips of him in a footy game. Note the deliberate use of *crazy* music in the background. This is the same trick that the MSM used against Oakeshott..try to make him look like a fool so as to give whatever he says far less credibility than it should have.

Senator Conroy isn’t the best of public speakers but I think got his points across clearly, especially that Australia comes in at 26th as regards freedom of speech with far more highly regulated Finland at #1, plus that media concentration in Australia rates at 86%. This is of course, of genuine concern to true democracy that only one element (irrespective of whether it’s right or left) should have such massive control of what information is disseminated.

Does an 86% concentration of media ownership equate with “freedom of speech”, or the loss of freedom of speech?

where have you been ?, it was Steven Marshall another non entity.
PS since I recovered my Gravatar I may be Bilko or Bilkonero most confusing for me.
can you provide a link to that headline @1.04am for my scrap book

  11. Bilko, log onto WordPress and go to Settings. You find Settings by clicking onto your profile pic top RHS. Third title down is Public Profile and on this is Public Display Name. From there you can change it back to Bilko.

  12. Stephen Marshall’s the new liberal leader in S.A. (Not sure if it’s a “ph” or a “v”). He comes across as fairly brash & the media seem to like him. They’ve taken a few shots at him but seem to be lining up behind him.
Interesting example of the media here I cited the other night but will repeat because it says a lot about the media & the country.
A debate between Marshall & the Labor premier had Marshall’s Business Led shtick favourably reported indeed. The next news item was that a big insurance company was pulling out of the building industry underwriting game, & so what was the government going to do about THAT??? It wasn’t considered necessary to ask what Mr Marshall would do about it.

  13. ricky @1.04am, Alberici blew Kenny and Textor completely out of the water. Their arguments were lame to say the least.

Bilko, I neither read the print media nor watch the news, the trolls do enough Liars propaganda. It’s quite blissful. I’m sure my BP feels very grateful. 😀

I rely on the Café and other sites for unbiased truthful news. 😀

  14. Very rarely for me I glanced through the Sunday Mail-well Port beat Sydney- and saw, but couldn’t be bothered reading, headlines wrt a Samantha Maiden beat up about freedom of the press & free speech, aka disseminating Liars party political propaganda.

  15. A very fine & wondrous set of LEMONs, otiose94 &, no doubt you be getting plenty of similar material on a daily basis. Lord knows Abbott & the LNP are a veritable mine of total crap.

The mendacious LNP would not know the truth if it came up to them, introduced itself & kicked them in the shins. That master of deceit, Tony Abbott, is the ideal leader of this sorry bunch as anyone with any principles has, long ago, been kicked out or cold-shouldered from their conservative cult.

My worthy Murdoch Blocker prevented me from seeing some of your links but I still get the drift. Now looking for a similar Chrome extension for Fairfax

  16. Ricky
many thanks for that I was not aware when I raised my initial query that the reference I asked about was in fact on insiders which I had recorded. Must become more alert as you know we all need more lert’s.

  17. Speaking of lemons, 😯
Let’s see what Abbott’s cheer squad make of this breaking news
David Ettridge has lodged claims in the Brisbane Supreme Court

What great news! Supreme Court action to be launched against Tony Abbott over ‘Australians for Honest Politics’ Affair.

I’ve printed off a copy to savour the list of claims:

‘My claims in the Brisbane Supreme Court will include that Mr Abbott and his Trust donors acted unlawfully and that amongst other things,

    1. Committed the offence of maintenance
    2. Perverted the course of Justice by assisting and financing court litigation of an allegation that wasn’t an offence under the Electoral Act (An obvious fact that escaped the notice of his lawyers at the time).
    3. Committed other offences against the Electoral Act Qld 1994.
    4. Committed offences against the Qld Crimes Act.
    5. That Mr Abbott committed the offence of Misfeasance in Public Office.
    6. Mr Abbott used Federal Government stationery for all of his related correspondence and in so doing made his unlawful activity official Government business.
    7. Mr Abbott may have also funded his multiple trips to Queensland in that period while committing the offence of misusing public funds. The current Government needs to investigate that possibility.
    8. It also remains possible that Mr Abbott acted with some immunity against consequences and prosecution from the Howard Government at the time and that his vigilante style behaviour was overlooked for the political advantage it provided to the Liberal Party. The Liberals were the biggest vote losers following the success of the One Nation Party in the June 1998 Qld State Election. (One Nation 439,121 votes, Liberals 311,514 votes)The Liberals stood to face a similar loss in the 1998 Federal Election. It goes to motive’ Mr Ettridge added.
    9. Mr Abbott’s attempts to destroy a lawfully registered political opponent were an act that showed contempt for the democratic process and the Electoral Laws that exist to guarantee Australians their right to have voter choice.

Most of these allegations are very serious breaches of Australian law’ Mr Ettridge claimed.

Comment reposted from TPS, by Cassablanca 😀

    Cheers 😀 😀

  18. Do hope this action from David Etteridge will amount to something, TS. He is to be congratulated as Pauline Hanson certainly doesn’t have the guts to do anything. She is even backing her nemesis who had her gaoled, for god’s sake, which is a disgrace.

Must say, though, David Etteridge is very brave in undertaking these claims in the Qld Supreme Court. There could be some very powerful people entangled in this nasty web of intrigue. .

  19. One to add to the list, and from the Courier Mail..there is so much in this one that I’m very tempted to copy the whole lot!! But here’s a part of what you’ll find.

TONY Abbott’s Liberal Party is attempting to lie its way into government, nothing more nothing less.

They are lying to you about the state of the economy when they talk about restoring growth (we haven’t lost it thank you very much), restoring jobs (unemployment is at a historically low 5.4 per cent, against an average of about 6 per cent during the Howard years), and a “debt burden” that is the envy of the rest of the world and low enough to mean we are one of only seven nations to have a AAA credit rating.

They are lying about the impact of putting a price on carbon (Whyalla is still standing, lamb roasts are not $100, investment is still booming and Abbott, as it was with a certain set of accounts from BHP, can’t read an electricity bill apparently). And on this front, they and other climate change deniers are lying to you about Australia “going it alone” in terms of the global push to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The party that is led by a man who has confessed on national television to having problems with the “gospel truth” is also lying through its back teeth about immigration and asylum seekers. Not that this should come as anything of a surprise from the mob that brought you TV ads with great red “invasion” arrows during the last campaign.

One of the latest grubby ploys has been a series of (unbranded) leaflets in strategic seats in NSW and Victoria spreading fear and division about the alleged cost of “Labor’s illegal boat arrivals”.

Forget even some of the very rubbery numbers used to get a big scary $6.8 billion headline (or $12.8 million a boat). Just consider the use of the word “illegal” three times on just one side of the pamphlet, authorised by Liberal Party directors Mark Neeham and Damien Mantach in NSW and Victoria respectively.

  20. Min, that Oz Politics site is awful & full of equally awful hard ringwingnuts posters. They never believe their “truths” should be sullied by facts at all. 😯

Wished I hadn’t looked at the comments. These people, so full of hate & self-righteousness, vote & breed unfortunately.

Thanks for the link to the letter though. 🙂

  21. Scaper, anyone full of hate and self-righteousness should seriously consider not passing their traits onto any unfortunate offspring as they all seem to end up serving me at Woolies…the long queue.

  22. Funny how I read that sort of elitest trash on far right sites too.

I reckon the blind left and right wing barrackers should be put in a hessian bag and dropped in the middle of the Nullarbor. Their biased opinions aren’t worth a hill of shit!

  23. Scaper, a certain type of person I think..someone who thinks that debating equates with who can shout the loudest.

  24. scaper…
“I detest lefties because they are pissants. Especially at Cafe Delusions”

Oops, I left out the second sentence. Nope, no mention of righties here in your profile, scaper. Stop being so sanctimonious & self-righteous. Some ideologies should not be allowed to breed & pass on their reactionary conservatism to their kiddies.

  25. Davif Etteridge’s claims are very interesting. I hope he succeeds. I wonder if the Liars will accept Liealot’s “tainted” vote now there’s an action against him.

I also wonder how the Liars will cope.

Min @11.14am, also extremely interesting. Some journos are honest, I’m pleased to say.

  26. “Let’s see what Abbott’s cheer squad make of this breaking news
David Ettridge has lodged claims in the Brisbane Supreme Court”

Has anyone noticed how this has been heard and seen all across our media today. Looks like it is going to be another stroy that is going to be ignored. Not even a comment, questioning whether it is true or not.

  27. Looks like it is going to be another stroy that is going to be ignored,/i>

They’re all too busy wondering if it is OK for harcher to make stuff up and run it as a front page scoop to attack the PM. A perplexing question to be sure 😉
