Johnnie loves Tony

It’s official. John Howard loves Tony Abbott. In Florida for the Republican National Convention little Johnnie swooned:

“I think its fair to say I’m about Tony Abbott’s biggest fan on the Australian political scene,” Mr Howard said. “I think hes done a fantastic job.”

If that isn’t scary enough, then what’s he doing at the Convention? That’s the scary bit. Playing the errand boy, perhaps?

Next time he whispers in Tony’s ear he can tell him how great a country would be if it paid its workers $4 an hour; if it could scrap health cover for the poor; if it could be controlled by the robber barons; if it could manipulate foreign governments; if it could spend more on defense than it does on welfare; if it shoots its political opponents; if it panders to the wealthy; if it only thinks about its’ own interests and rapes the planet.

I could go on, but I’m sure you get my drift.

He’s priming Tony for the final strike. Let’s have a party: a Tea Party. “Tony, you are the man and I am the messenger”.

Howard’s presence there is frightening, but it has a twist: the Convention is being held in a place called Tampa.

Little Johnnie loves that word. Just like he loves his little puppet called Tony.

I smell trouble.

  1. Two Wankers together. The rodent who was the Work choice King, and Abbott the Village Idiot. the only difference is Johnnie had brains not like this Dip shit wanker they suppose to have as the Alternative Prime Minister. he lies through his teeth, and Tony Windsor summed this dip shit up Nicely. He Begged for the job and if he was elected would have implemented the Carbon tax. He has even admitted it in his speeches. He would have done anything except Sell his arse. But hell fFs who would offer to buy it. No one know’s what has been in there. This idiot couldn’t control a Condom Machine in a Brothel let alone Run the Country. The Libs have had some idiots but, this fool takes the cake. He’s nothing but a self Centred arsehole. He only gives a shit about himself. he would totally destroy this Country of ours. Go to Abbottabad and stay there you fool. We have seen enough, and heard enough of your crap Shit happens Vibes.

  2. I smell trouble. I suppose it would smell all those old policies just lying around rotting at the bottom of the liberal cesspool waiting for TA to implement, thats where TA was born to Bronwyn “Bee Hive” Bishop and LITTLE johnny.

  3. If little “Johnny” wants the OZ version of the “Tea Party”, then Abbott must be the mad hatter. 😆 🙄 👿

  4. Hey whisperers, I wrote this a few days back and posted it on TPS.
    Thought it may be appropriate here, it’s called;

    Arsegate for beginners.

Tony Abbotts blind ambition served us up the term arsegate
To be PM.. he promised everything.. except his arses fate
So for an ETS ..or carbon tax ..he’d surely compromise
He begged and pleaded… but the indies… saw straight through his lies

So cast to opposition… Abbott set about his plan
To bring the quick demise… of the Labor party clan
With lies and spin and slogans… he threw away due care
For the country and economy …as he really doesn’t care

So with a scare campaign ferocious.. and throwing morals.. to the wind
And ignoring all the experts… and with truth and fact.. all binned
His goal was really simple… gaining power at any cost
But with monumental brain farts,… his cause was quickly lost

But.. in the minds of many..Arsegate’s now.. much more.. generic
As they watch the right wing, zealots,… lining up behind their cleric
The Abbott man.. who would be king … he’s heading up the charge
While the list of arsegate devotees… is looming rather large

There’s Pyne.. the Mincing poodle with his mega dummy spits
And his whinging, wining manner giving everyone the shits
And his social ties to Ashby giving rise to speculation
That there’s more to that.. than meets the eye.. and cause for consternation

Then there’s that man Ashby… who cried sexual harassment by Slipper
But the allegations going round.. are the man prefers a nipper
And the chances are the harassment case.. will not get very far
As Ashby’s known for leaving his arsegate… always half ajar

Then there’s Sophie Mirrabella .. who is rotten to the core
Who would sell her own grandmother if there’s money she could score
She will take unfair advantage of the old… and frail… and rich
And to sell her arse is normal…for the nasty little bitch

And Cocky Hockey tags along with his smug and arrogant smile
Making much.. of getting numbers wrong… by a decent country mile
With his ties to Abbotts arsegate all we’ll get.. is.. a bad.. smell
From this man who would be treasurer …who would do us over well

And with Bishop as his 2 IC, the minister for not much
He shows.. just how far… his front bench is ..really.. out of touch
With her contribution to debate.. making claws and pussy calls
And her head up Abbotts arsegate it’s no wonder they’ve no balls

Then the whistle blower Jackson,… Abbotts hero of the minute
With the charges that she’s facing… could dump all of them right in it
And with Fair Work’s Michael Lawler.. a Tony Abbott.. appointee
Engaged to one K Jackson… there are conflicts there to see

With Abetz and Brandis on her side and Peter Reith as well
And the H R Nichols Society prepared to ring her bell
And she’s up to her elbows in the cookie jar… with egg upon her face
And there’s so many arsegates up for grabs.. it’s like an Olympic race

There is also Malcolm Turnbull whose hands are far from clean
With his lies and obfuscation… on the NBN clearly seen
As the brief for his portfolio was to seal our broadband’s fate
And although his heart’s not in it,.. it has proved… his own arsegate

And.. as a savvy tech head… he has sunk.. the Liberals boat
As the Abbotts broadband policy… is impossible to float
And he knows that fibre optics works… but sold out the mother-load
By adopting Abbotts policy of…. arsegate to the node

So the burning question for us all.. is do we want this rabble
Representing our great nation… with their slogans, lies and babble
Knocking holes in our economy… while looking after all their mates
While covering up corruption from their numerous… arsegates.

    Cheers 😆 🙄 😆

  5. I so wonder what our Clayton’s Christian’s prayers sound like? I am sure there would be a few requests to smite a certain red headed woman!!!

  6. Hmm
No mention here at the Cafe about the fact that the asylum seekers rescued off Indonesia from that sinking have been taken back to Indonesia, something that you lot were all insisting would not ever happen.

  7. Don’t you recall Möbius Ecko, how the leftie patrons of this fine establishment were insisting that “Indonesia won’t take them back”? Gee they did it often enough and with such certainty that it surely can’t have escaped your attention.
    👿

  8. kitkat
Reith is talking about history here, and that is all about opinion, that he does not share the same view of those events as you and the author of your link does is of no consequence.
Now what is your opinion of those who were insisting that Indonesia would not take back those asylum seekers who come to grief in their waters?

  9. Children overboard, AWB, the lie to take us to war, and of course this little humdinger: “In 2005, Mr Abbott said: “When I made that statement in the election campaign I had not the slightest inkling that there would ever be any intention to change this, but obviously when circumstances change, governments do change their opinions.”
And more recently Abbotts blatant and childish lie to parliment about reading the BHP report.
And the Libs have the gall to talk about honesty with a straight face!!!

  10. Kitkat

He can have his own view mate, he just can’t have his own fact!!

I really think that after such a long time that it matters very little now. Especially as Reith is no longer in the parliament.

So about Indonesia taking back asylum seekers, are you willing to admit that its significant that they have indeed taken back this lot after they were plucked from the sea(even those picked up by an Australian warship)? Further it also puts an end to the suggestion that boats turned back could not return to their point of departure as well.

  11. One instance doesn’t mean it will be maintained mate. You enjoy your little gotcha moment though. Your just like your high preist, rubbing your hands together with glee as these peoples lives are lost or ruined. You need a little introspection methinks!

  12. He (head of a human rights group) says asylum seekers will now have an avenue to file complaints against Australia for breaching human rights.

“The Australian government should not be surprised if there is a case filed in the context of UN monitors for human rights,” he said.

His organisation is among a number of international groups trying to get ASEAN countries, like Indonesia, to start offering temporary protection for refugees.

According to survivors the asylum seekers were told to go onto the Indonesian vessel as the Australian warship did not have enough medical facilities and food to treat the survivors.

They were taken to Indonesia for processing and medical treatment after which they will be sent onto Australian detention.

  13. According to Gillard in this case because of the tragic circumstances and the condition of the survivors the Indonesians has said they would take the surviving refugees.

What happens to them from here is uncertain but they will be processed by Indonesian immigration.

  14. Iain, is it significant that after the last time that a boat was turned back that Indonesia stated categorically that in the future that they would be accepting no more of our “returns”.

The Indonesian government had confirmed this stance on a number of occasions, and strongly to both J. Bishop and to Tony Abbott. Countries mostly don’t take kindly to having problems foisted onto others.

  15. It depends on the circumstances and agencies involved.

You ignore the fact that there has been extensive talks with Indonesia.

Maybe the fact that we are taking many more, some thousands directly has led to the Indonesians being more cooperative.

This boats, also sunk very close to Indonesia.

Maybe the PM is managing to get a regional processing in place.

The fact seems to be, the Indonesians have agreed for these people to be taken to the nearest port. Remember they have been in the water for numerous hours. I assume many have lost love ones as well.

Why the need for point scoring.

I suspect that when the air is cleared in this matter, many will choose to go back to Indonesia and Malaysia, when they realise the future they face on the Islands. The PM seems very relaxed saying they will not be there for ever, or at least a long time. For her to say this, there must be more plans in the pipeline.

  16. Anyway this gets away from the topic of this thread and part of that is Howard’s praise for a gormless Abbott.

For mine I reckon it’s a good thing Howard sticking his nose in as it puts another nail in Abbott’s chances at the next election. Howard wasn’t ignobly booted out because he was such a great and wonderful person.

It will the reasons that Howard was dumped by the people that they will now associate with Abbott, and Abbott attempting to have an each way of saying he will go back to the golden age but that’s in the past and he won’t be doing it just won’t wash.

Lies on lies will be Abbott Liar’s downfall.

  17. Howard never likes the full history of 2007, Howard got booted out of Bennelong. And didn,t he take an awful lot of time packing up his mattress.

  18. Hmmm, as always Iain ignores any facts that conflict with his own attempts to heap praise on the Liberals & scorn on Labor. Fact #1 is that the ship sank in Indonesian Waters, therefore they had no other option but to take them back. Their refusal to take back asylum seekers is clearly in reference to boats turned back outside of Indonesian Waters. Abbott’s “Megaphone Diplomacy” on this issue most certainly isn’t helping in achieving a regional solution to this issue. Fact #2 Reith’s views on Children Overboard-as stated recently-disagree entirely with the available facts, just as they did back in 2001. Of course, Reith is a serial liar & cheat (as we saw from the phone-card scandal, for which he was *never* punished). Fact #3. Assuming that Reith is allowed to have his own facts (as opposed to opinions), then why do the Far Right bitch & moan about the Carbon Price? After all, even if you ignore the fact that Gillard’s position was misrepresented by the press, or the fact that it’s not even a real tax, then why are the Right the only ones allowed to change their story/rewrite history to suit themselves?

  19. I’m sure the RWFs who infest this and other blogs can’t wait for their neighbours and loved ones to be paid $4 per hour. As ‘good’ Liberals they’d probably think even that is generous!

  20. Ah yes, but Cuppa they never think of it that way…it’s always somebody else – the mysterious “others” who are effected. And naturally these others are undeserving of anything better.

  21. I still can’t work out why Howard needs to trot along to the convention. Do I smell a rat, or am I being silly?

  22. Just took a closer look at the picture of Howard and Abbott at the bottom of the article.

Is Howard putting his finger into Abbott’s right ear?

Or maybe he’s pressing Abbott’s reset switch after a brain freeze, it would explain a lot about Abbott’s behaviour. A flawed cheaply built Howard automaton would answer a lot about Abbott’s stumbling, mumbling, brain farting, three word repeated slogans and brain freezing.

My “glee as you call it has nothing to do with those who have drowned but everything to do with the sanctimonious latte sippers who have insisted that Indonesia could and would wash their hands of any asylum seeker once they have left their shores

The thing is that they can’t do this when the boat is in their waters Min

    I ignore nothing C U

Maybe the fact that we are taking many more, some thousands directly has led to the Indonesians being more cooperative.

This boats, also sunk very close to Indonesia.

Yes the location of the incident is significant

Maybe the PM is managing to get a regional processing in place.

Not a chance of that I think

The fact seems to be, the Indonesians have agreed for these people to be taken to the nearest port. Remember they have been in the water for numerous hours. I assume many have lost love ones as well.

Yes the rescue convention demands taking survivors to the nears port

Why the need for point scoring.

Because this matter has been otherwise ignored here and so many of you were insisting that this would never happen

I suspect that when the air is cleared in this matter, many will choose to go back to Indonesia and Malaysia, when they realise the future they face on the Islands. The PM seems very relaxed saying they will not be there for ever, or at least a long time. For her to say this, there must be more plans in the pipeline.

Isn’t that the point of off shore detention, just as Abbott has been saying for the whole time Labor has been in power.

    Marcus 2012 @ 12:34 pm

Hmmm, as always Iain ignores any facts that conflict with his own attempts to heap praise on the Liberals & scorn on Labor. Fact #1 is that the ship sank in Indonesian Waters, therefore they had no other option but to take them back.

Oh that is the point that I am making but it was also the case with the last boat that Australia rescued and Gillard still told then that we would take them.

Their refusal to take back asylum seekers is clearly in reference to boats turned back outside of Indonesian Waters.

Well then that is a good argument for good use of GPS when our navy turns boats back

Abbott’s “Megaphone Diplomacy” on this issue most certainly isn’t helping in achieving a regional solution to this issue.

Abbott is not yet PM so anything he says on any topic will be seen through that prism, in any event why do we have to bend the knee to any of our neighbours?

Fact #2 Reith’s views on Children Overboard-as stated recently-disagree entirely with the available facts, just as they did back in 2001. Of course, Reith is a serial liar & cheat (as we saw from the phone-card scandal, for which he was *never* punished).

That may be the case but at this remove why does it matter?

Fact #3. Assuming that Reith is allowed to have his own facts (as opposed to opinions), then why do the Far Right bitch & moan about the Carbon Price?

    That is a total non-sequetor

After all, even if you ignore the fact that Gillard’s position was misrepresented by the press, or the fact that it’s not even a real tax, then why are the Right the only ones allowed to change their story/rewrite history to suit themselves?

To turn your own argument around why do you accept Gillard convoluted excuse making but demand a different standard from Reith?

  24. CU
The taxpayer has probably paid Howard’s fare.
However, Howard is at the Republican convention as the president of a “ce ntre right democratic thinking conservative leaders” group. Or some such thing, but he is an invited guest. Only a right leaning conservative would nhave the audacity to claim the word “democratic” in its title.

  25. LOL, Iain. Gillard’s explaination is only “convoluted” in the minds of Right Wing Trolls like you (who apparently can only understand things if put into a 3 word slogan). By contrast, Reith’s explaination was just a blatant lie-one that they persisted in until the media exposed it. Also, nothing Gillard said about the carbon price was aimed at demonizing vulnerable people for electoral benefit. Still, given that you’ve been prepared to accept all of the other lies told by Howard & his minions, then it merely confirms the obvious Right Wing bias when it comes to honesty.

  26. Marcus, it could be worse. Maybe the believe all the speil and lies that come from Abbott and his cohorts.

  27. I believe they judge Labor by their own standards. They lie, therefore, so does Labor.

What was a core and non core promise?

  28. As Romney and Ryan lie with abandon, how should journalists navigate post-truth politics?

As I keep saying, the modern conservatives cannot win voters with integrity and by being honest so they lie through their teeth whilst projecting that onto others.

It’s so sad to see that they have come to this and there’s no greater example than Abbott Liar, who has lied so often now that he tells lies to cover up for his lies.

When history chronicles all the lies and deceits racked up by the conservatives during this period, starting with Howard who ingrained prevarication as a normal part of the Coalition’s way of doing business, it will be a damning indictment of them and one that goes way beyond the normal political equivocations that sadly everyone has come to accept as part and parcel of politics.

And the main stream media’s role in allowing the Coalition to continuously get away with the blatant untruths cannot be allowed to pass either. What Leigh Sales did the other night and Virginia Trioli with Reith should never have been such rare occurrences that the uncovering of the lies came as a surprise and set the interwebs alight. These revelations and questioning should be the norm across the board for all politicians and not the exception.

LOL, Iain. Gillard’s explanation is only “convoluted” in the minds of Right Wing Trolls like you (who apparently can only understand things if put into a 3 word slogan).

I have heard this all before and it was a crock in its previous iteration and its a crock now. Gillard also said that there would be not ETS until after the “people’s conference” do remember that? She promised “consultation”? and it dissipated with out a trace when the Greens wanted her arse as payment for the lodge keys.

By contrast, Reith’s explaination was just a blatant lie-one that they persisted in until the media exposed it.

Look I did not care much about the issue when it was current and I care less about it now that it is very old news, why does it so concern you now? Is it because you have some notion that it painted asylum seekers in a bad light?

Also, nothing Gillard said about the carbon price was aimed at demonizing vulnerable people for electoral benefit.

Oh that is what you are about is it patronising asylum seekers and trying to see them as some sort of noble victims? They are just as varied as any other people and just as likely to be working at gaming the system any way that they can as anyone else, The fact that you refuse to accept the possibility that they might just be rather less than paragons of virtue is no surprise coming from the naive left.

Still, given that you’ve been prepared to accept all of the other lies told by Howard & his minions, then it merely confirms the obvious Right Wing bias when it comes to honesty.

I am not endorsing any “lies” spoken by anyone at any time and don’t you think its time that you stopped living in the past? Howard has been out of politics for five years now and still you harp on about his perceived sins.
Anyway here is a song just for you:

  30. Iain, buddy, the deminising of asylum seekers and the war that Howard got us into through his lies are still very much current issues. I thought you were up on current events. Wars, easy to get into, hard to get out of….”Good onya John”

  31. Kitkat @ 8:02 pm

Iain, buddy, the deminising (?????) of asylum seekers and the war that Howard got us into through his lies are still very much current issues. I thought you were up on current events. Wars, easy to get into, hard to get out of….”Good onya John”

To some people the events of 1948 are still terribly pressing issues but the rest of the world has moved on. When it comes to asylum seekers why is it so important to you that they all be viewed as such paragons of virtue? Those of us who are more realistic about human nature understand that some may certainly be precisely that and some will be utter scum-bags who would do anything (including putting their own children in peril) to achieve a favourable immigration outcome. Many more are a mix of both extremes.
If asylum seekers are seen to be mostly genuine then its easier to make the argument that we should let in all comers so that is why it so upsets you when it is suggested that they are just as human as we are and just as likely to do bad things to achieve a favourable outcome in the longer term.
That said I think that its a moot point now anyway as most Aussies have a sort of compassion fatigue when it comes to such mendicants and its that compassion fatigue that has hardened their hearts far more than any suggestions that individuals may have thrown their children into the sea.
As for War well I predict many more drones and less feet on the ground in the future.

  33. “Look I did not care much about the issue when it was current and I care less about it now that it is very old news, why does it so concern you now?”

Simple, because we still see the same players every day on our media. They have not stayed in the past.
