My father, who spent over 18 months fighting the Japanese in New Guinea once told me to always respect your enemy. Tony Abbott, who must surely be close to ascension, shows not respect but love. In his ode to Craig Thomson, with tears surely welling in his eyes, his heart exploded with love confessing:
“And that’s why the best thing for everyone – it would take the pressure off him, it would take the pressure off his family – would be for him to leave the parliament.”
“At a human level I have a great deal of sympathy for the member for Dobell,” Mr Abbott said yesterday.
“We have no sympathy, though, for a government and for a prime minister who have put him in this position by insisting he remain in the parliament when the honourable course of action for him would be to resign.”
What a nasty Prime Minister we must have as he rightly points out:
“At the moment, as far as the Prime Minister is concerned, it’s not Craig Thomson’s welfare that matters, it’s her political welfare that matters,” he told the Nine Network.
Well all I can say is thank God the media in this country has finally revealed to us the re-invented, caring, merciful Mr Abbott that I never knew existed. All this time I thought he just wanted to see the back of Craig Thomson so he could get his hands on the keys to The Lodge.
Slap me down for harbouring those ill thoughts.
Sorry, Mr Abbott, for my speculation that an evil agenda whirled around inside you. Clearly your heart is good. I am grateful to The Australian for showing us the true you.
They see the goodness that I was blind to.
I can see nothing but love coming from Tony Abbott towards Mr Thomson from this day forward.
Just like he loves these kids. 😉
